The 2020 Saitama Triennial in Saitama, Japan was going to feature an elaborate interactive Ecosex Clinic designed by Beth Stephens and Annie Sprinkle. I was so excited to get to work with Beth, Annie, Hiroko Kikuchi, Creative Director of NPO inVisible and Naomi Shibata to create Japanese/English elements for the exhibition and interactive events. My family is from Japan so having a part in the design of these documents, knowing they would be read by a Japanese audience was a thrill. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, all scheduled events were eventually cancelled. However, thanks to the huge efforts of the Saitama Triennial staff, the installation space was opened after the intense work of meeting safety protocols and some of the designed materials became part of the installation.
